Tom Lenahan began his career with the City of Burbank Fire Department as a Firefighter 25 years ago. He continued to rise through the ranks as Paramedic, Engineer, Captain, and Battalion Chief. He served as Assistant Fire Chief, in charge of budget, personnel, and other administrative functions from January 2009 - June 2012. He had a brief tour of duty as the Fire Marshal beginning in July of 2012 before assuming the position of Fire Chief in January 2013.
He also worked for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for approximately 5 years as a Deputy Sheriff with assignments at Men’s Central Jail and Lennox Sheriff’s Station. He is a member of International Association of Fire Chiefs, California Fire Chiefs Association, the Los Angeles Area Fire Chiefs Association, National Management Association, and the Burbank Sunrise Kiwanis.
Chief Lenahan attained his Associate of the Arts degree in General Education from Los Angeles Pierce College in 1980, Bachelor of Science degree in Vocational Arts/Management from California State University Long Beach in 2005, and Master of Public Administration degree from California State University Northridge in 2011. Tom has been happily married for 29 years to his wife Irene and has three wonderful children: Frank, Katie, and Andy.
