Welcome to Burbank2035! The Planning & Transportation Division is currently updating the General Plan, a "blueprint" for growth required for all cities and counties in California. Nicknamed Burbank2035, its goals and policies affect a wide range of issues including housing, traffic circulation and mobility, parks and recreation, resource conservation, and public safety. Burbank2035 anticipates and plans for change occurring in the community, and should be continually revised to be meaningful and relevant based on the current state of the community, with an eye toward the future.
Although parts of the plan have been revised through the years, Burbank's General Plan has not been comprehensively updated since the mid-1960s. To commemorate the City's centennial, the Planning & Transportation Division will be asking our Planning Board and City Council to consider and adopt a plan for Burbank's land use and community development goals for the next 25 years. Burbank2035 will enable the City to better define its image and position within the region, allow businesses to better compete in the local and regional marketplace, maintain valued community character, address local and regional environmental concerns, and provide a superior quality of life for Burbank residents.
In 2009, the City Council approved a contract with AECOM Inc., who is assisting the City with preparation of Burbank2035 and an Environmental Impact Report to analyze the plan's environmental impacts. It is anticipated that Burbank2035 will be adopted in summer 2012.
