Seismic Retrofit Grant Coming to Burbank
Burbank, CA (October 9, 2018) - The City of Burbank has recently been selected by the California Residential Mitigation Program, Earthquake Brace & Bolts allowing Burbank homeowners of wood-framed single family homes to receive up to $3,000 for the seismic retrofitting of their house.
Retrofit of wood-framed structures on a raised foundation could lessen the damage to the home by keeping the house from sliding off of the foundation during an earthquake. Typical retrofit costs of a single family home could range from $3,000 to $7,000 and the incentive payment of up to $3,000 will allow greater measures of safety for homeowners and their families.
The application period starts today, October 9, 2018, for five weeks ending on November 13, 2018. The application and qualifying criteria can be found on the Programs website at: www.earthquakebracebolt.com.
Residents may also contact the city’s Building & Safety Division at (818) 238-5220.
