DeBell Golf Course Under New Management
BURBANK, CA (January 3, 2019) – On December 11, 2018, the Burbank City Council approved an Agreement between the City of Burbank Parks and Recreation Department and Touchstone Golf to manage and operate the DeBell Golf Course.
Touchstone Golf officially took over the management of the golf course, pro shop, driving range, nine-hole Par 3 course, and golf and landscape maintenance on December 12, 2018. Management of the food and beverage operations followed on January 1, 2019. The City-owned facility has been underperforming for a number of years and this new partnership was established with renewed optimism in the future success of the DeBell Golf Course.
Touchstone Golf customizes management engagements and will address the specific needs of DeBell by placing a strong importance on meeting key objectives that include being self-sustaining, addressing deferred maintenance and enhancing the customer experience. Under this arrangement, the City will pay Touchstone Golf a monthly fee to coordinate and directly manage all three operational components at DeBell, which include golf course operations, food and beverage, and golf and landscape maintenance. Touchstone will optimize management of the three separate divisions into one integrated operations system. This will result in having a highly efficient golf operation. With this agreement, the City will now better manage costs, and will receive 100% of the revenue generated at DeBell.
Touchstone Golf was founded in 2006 by brothers Stephen and Douglas Harker. Their company is currently the 10th largest full-service golf course management company and has a 12-year successful cost-effective track record. Touchstone Golf has turned around underperforming golf courses across the country, helping them to become profitable. Touchstone Golf currently manages a total of 38 golf courses in ten states, 15 being municipal or government courses.
