City of Burbank Awarded Measure H Funds
Money will go toward housing feasibility, an access center and homeless storage
Burbank, CA (January 28, 2019) – Burbank was recently awarded $340,000 in Measure H Funds from the Los Angeles County Homeless Initiative and United Way of Greater Los Angeles to use towards the implementation of the City of Burbank Homeless Plan. Burbank was one of 31 cities that competed in the Request for Proposals process, and received its full funding request amount. This award, which will be allocated during FY 2018-2019, will support the implementation of three out of the seven strategies from the Burbank Homeless Plan. These strategies include: Developing Storage Facilities and Transportation, Creating Affordable Housing, and Continuing Outreach, Community Awareness, and Coordinated Care System.
Through the RFP process, the Los Angeles County Homeless Initiative and United Way of Greater Los Angeles awarded more than $3.8 million in Measure H funding countywide. From that $3.8 Million, the City of Burbank was awarded $125,000 for the creation of affordable housing, and $215,000 to support projects that enhance the coordinated entry systems.
This new allocation of Measure H funds will bolster the work of the City of Burbank in implementing the city-specific plan to combat and prevent homelessness.
“The City of Burbank is committed to finding solutions that will address the ongoing social issues of homelessness that impact the quality of life for all. By working together, we can effectively address homelessness through action-oriented solutions,” stated Marcos Gonzalez, City of Burbank Grants Coordinator.
