Burbank Fire Department to Participate in Fire Safety Officer Course
Burbank, CA (November 6, 2019) – The California State Fire Marshal’s Office is presenting a Motion Picture/Television - Fire Safety Officer Course in Burbank this week. On Thursday, November 7, 2019, there will be a demonstration of different theatrical special effects taking place at the helipad on Lockheed View Dr., across from the Starlight Bowl. The demonstration will include special effects that may produce loud noise and a minimal amount of smoke. Some of these effects include simulated gun fire, pyrotechnics, and a live body burn. The demonstration will take place between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. The De Bell Golf Course and Castaway restaurant have been notified that they may hear the sound of pyrotechnics and see smoke during those hours. We also anticipate a media presence for the demonstration portion of the course. The City’s Public Information Office is aware of the details of this training and will be present during the demonstration portion as well.
This course is nationally recognized and has participants from throughout the State of California, as well as Canada, New Mexico, and Georgia. Our partnership with the California State Fire Marshal’s Office, and there desire to host the course in the City of Burbank further emphasizes the role our City plays in the media industry.
