Message from the City Clerk 
Regarding the 2020 Election Updates

Welcome to the City of Burbank's Municipal Election page. The following information is intended for voters and potential candidates through the election process. Elections are held in November of even-numbered years.

In 2015, the State Legislature adopted and signed Senate Bill (SB) 415, and was determined by California Attorney General that SB 415 does apply to Charter Cities as well as General Law Cities. SB 415 required cities with voter turnout rates lower than that of statewide elections to consolidate with the State. In compliance with SB 415, the City of Burbank General Municipal Election would have to align with statewide election dates.

In June 2018, the Electors of the City of Burbank passed Measure V which moved the City of Burbank’s General Municipal Elections from February and April of odd-numbered years to coincide with the Statewide General Election in November of even-numbered years. The first consolidated General Municipal Election will be held on November 3, 2020 and will be conducted by the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (County).

Other changes include how we vote and where we vote. The County’s effort to modernize our voting processes, known as Voting Solutions for all People (VSAP), has several different components to it, such as: flexible options for voting, a new Ballot Marking Device, new Vote by Mail ballot and new Vote Centers.
