The first step is creating a log-in by registering. All you need is an email address. You will be asked to create a password. After creating your log-in, you may request an inspection, review the results or cancel a scheduled inspection.
SCHEDULE THE INSPECTION:
Enter Permit Number and Confirm Job Site Address: After logging-in, click on Schedule Inspection in the left column. On the Inspection Request screen, enter the Permit number, which is the nine-digit number beginning with BS. After you enter the permit number, the address of the project will populate. Check that the address is correct.
Select a Date and Type of Inspection: Select a date. You may schedule an inspection up to three days in advance, except for weekends and holidays. Then select the type of inspection. You may also add a comment to the inspector. When finished, click on Schedule Inspection Request at the bottom right corner. You may schedule more than one inspection by repeating this process.
CANCEL OR REVIEW A SCHEDULED INSPECTION
Click on Cancel Inspection in the left column and follow the dialog boxes. You may also review scheduled inspections by clicking on View Results in the left column.
Inspectors are available to answer questions (over the counter - temporarily suspended or) by phone from 7:00 - 8:00 am and 3:00 - 3:30 pm at 818-238-5220 or calling your inspector directly. Inspections may also be requested over the phone 9:00 am - 4:00 pm by calling our office 818-238-5220.
After obtaining your building permit, you may contact your inspector if you are uncertain at which point in the construction process you should schedule an inspection. A general good practice, however, is to not cover anything up that the inspector needs to verify.
Inspection Requirements and Typical Sequence of Inspections
Guidelines during Safer at Home:
- Building inspections will continue to be available while adhering to COVID-19 protection. Inspection staff will conduct inspections per scheduled requests. All inspection requests should be through the City’s “Online Building Inspection Request” Portal found on the City’s website at: permit.burbankca.gov/
- To ensure the highest order of health protections, we ask that while the building inspectors is on-site to:
Maintain Safe Social Distancing – Arrange to have no more than 10 persons in the areas to be inspected and maintain a minimum of six-feet distance from all persons in the area.
Ensure that No One Onsite is Sick or is believed to have come in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
Ensure that the Site is Clean and Items Ready for Inspection so that Inspection staff do not have to come into contact with building and construction items.
- In certain cases, staff may request the inspection by Face Time or Skype – situation dependent. In these instances, please have your smart phone or device ready for live communication with inspection staff.
- Building inspections are available by our certified inspection staff. All building inspectors are full-time City of Burbank employees and will visit your project site wearing City identification on their person. If you do not see a City ID, please ask for identification or contact the general number at (818) 238-5220.
