With recent projections from Governor Newsom and the Los Angeles County representatives, the City of Burbank will not be offering summer sports leagues


In heeding the orders and recommendations of state and local officials, the Parks and Recreation Department has opted to temporarily suspend the Adult Volleyball Program and the Adult Basketball Program for the Fall 2020 season.  In the event that County guidelines ease, the Sports team has developed a plan to resume league play when permitted.

YOUTH & ADULT SPORTS – Effective April 10, 2020 all sports programming and all City buildings will be CLOSED to the public until further notice. This includes all sports activities, league games, drop-in sports programs and practice reservations.

  • Please note that based on the recommendations and orders of local, state, and federal officials, this closure may be subject to extension.

The adult sports program offers men and women an opportunity to participate in organized leagues in a recreational setting.  Registration is accepted on a "team basis" only.  Divisional classifications range from top-flight play to low-level recreational leagues in a variety of sports.  The adult program offers play in basketball, softball, and volleyball.

The City of Burbank is a member of the Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation (SCMAF). The mission of SCMAF is to provide and promote sports training and competition in response to and conducted by its members. The City of Burbank provides opportunities to develop physical fitness and lifelong skills in a variety of team sports for persons of all ages and abilities. Our philosophy is to instill a positive attitude, good sportsmanship, sound fundamentals, confidence, and high moral standards. The City of Burbank and SCMAF seek to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and participation.

Player Referral List

Individuals may place themselves on a player referral list for any sport. Team managers may review the list and place individuals on their team. There is no guarantee of placement on team. Click here to add your name to the Player Referral List.

Open Gym - *temporarily suspended

McCambridge, Olive, and Verdugo Recreation Centers offer open gym drop-in times for basketball, badminton, dodge ball, pickle ball, and volleyball.  Click here to learn more.

Sports Officials Training

Adults interested in officiating softball, baseball, or basketball can earn up to $40 per game. Officials are required to attend classroom training, pass a written exam, and pass a practical exam. The City of Burbank Sports Office strives to provide fair, fun and competitive leagues.  In order to offer positive recognition, better trainings, and appropriate follow through on situations , the Sports Office welcomes feedback from our teams about the performance of our officials.
