Burbank Volunteer Program

The Burbank Volunteer Program (BVP) is a City of Burbank program that matches local volunteers with nonprofits and public organizations. 

Whether you are looking to complete high school service learning requirements, have a few spare hours a month, or have recently retired and are looking to make an impact, BVP can assist in finding the perfect match for your availability and interests.

Complete a BVP Application
Download, complete, and mail the BVP Application (PDF) to:

To expedite the background check process, applications can first be emailed to bvp@burbankca.gov.

Phone Interview
After submitting a complete BVP Application, staff will contact you for a brief interview.

Pass a Background Check
All volunteers ages 18+ must complete fingerprinting (Live Scan*) and background check (National Center for Safety Initiative). 

*LiveScan fingerprint has a $10 service fee.

Project HOPE

Project HOPE is a free program that assists Burbank residents age 55+ with grocery shopping, picking up prescriptions, dropping off items at the post office, and other essential errands. Project HOPE volunteers must be age 18+ and enrolled in the Burbank Volunteer Program (BVP). If you are interested in becoming a Project HOPE volunteer, please contact BVP at (818) 238-5370.

Phone Pals

Phone Pals is a City of Burbank volunteer program that pairs adults 55+ with a volunteer who provides regular social phone calls. Phone Pals volunteers must be age 18+, a BVP volunteer, and available to connect with their assign senior every other week. Contact the Joslyn Center at (818) 238-5370 if you are interested in becoming a Phone Pals volunteer.
Current volunteer timesheets

Current BVP Volunteer Timesheets (PDF) can be submitted online, or downloaded and returned to the BVP office located at the Joslyn Adult Center.
