Danny Alvarez
Fire Chief
Chief Alvarez has served with the Burbank Fire Department for over 25 years and was appointed Fire Chief in 2023. His career has included roles as Deputy Fire Chief, Battalion Chief, Fire Captain, Fire Engineer, and Fire Prevention Inspector. Chief Alvarez holds a bachelor’s degree in Fire and Emergency Management from Waldorf University and is credentialed as a Chief Fire Officer through the Center for Public Safety Excellence. He remains a strong advocate for regional and statewide fire service collaboration.
Jim Moye
Deputy Fire Chief
Chief Moye has served with the Burbank Fire Department since 1997. His career includes roles as Firefighter/Paramedic, Engineer, Captain, Arson Investigator, and Battalion Chief/Fire Marshal. Chief Moye earned a bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration from Purdue University and brings experience across all divisions of the Department. His leadership emphasizes innovation, safety, and professional growth.
Christine Alles
Fire Administrator
As Fire Administrator, Ms. Alles oversees administrative processes and supports the Department’s strategic and fiscal management initiatives. She plays a key role in coordinating internal services and implementing organizational priorities to enhance departmental efficiency. Overseeing administrative support staff in both the Administration and Fire & Life Safety Divisions, her leadership supports the continued delivery of high-quality public safety services to the Burbank community.
Cameron Cerwin
Administration/Logistics Battalion Chief
Chief Cerwin brings more than 30 years of fire service experience, including over two decades with the Burbank Fire Department. He has held positions from Firefighter to Fire Captain and now oversees administrative and logistical operations. Chief Cerwin is recognized for his leadership, technical expertise, and mentorship in developing future fire service professionals. His focus on operational readiness and community service underscores his commitment to public safety.
Joel Petteys
Fire Marshal/Battalion Chief
Chief Petteys is a 28-year veteran of the Burbank Fire Department and currently oversees the Fire & Life Safety Division. He previously served as a Fire Captain and the Department’s lead Hazardous Materials Coordinator. Chief Petteys holds an Associate of Science in Fire Technology and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. His experience reflects a strong commitment to prevention, safety, and leadership.
Kenneth Allen
“A" Shift Battalion Chief
(Hazardous Materials Response Program)
Chief Allen has proudly served the City of Burbank for more than 31 years. He is currently the "A" Shift Battalion Chief and oversees the Hazardous Materials Response Program. He has held every rank in the Burbank Fire Department, including Firefighter, Paramedic, Engineer, Captain, and now Battalion Chief. Chief Allen holds a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership and is a certified Paramedic and Hazardous Materials Specialist. He also teaches at local fire academies, helping to mentor the next generation of firefighters.
Erik Jueden
"B" Shift Battalion Chief (Technical Rescue Program)
Chief Jueden has been with the Burbank Fire Department since 1994, bringing extensive leadership experience and a strong dedication to public safety. Throughout his career, he has managed emergency operations, Urban Search & Rescue, flashover training, and disaster response efforts to provide the highest level of service to the community. Chief Jueden is committed to fostering teamwork, preparedness, and resilience within the Department and the City of Burbank.
John Owings
"C" Shift Battalion Chief (Wildland Program)
Chief Owings has been with the Burbank Fire Department since 1994 and currently oversees "C" Shift operations and the Wildland Program. He has been instrumental in developing the Department’s Firefighter Recruit Academy and serves as chairperson for the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services Region 1 California Incident Command Certification System Peer Review Committee. Chief Owings is also a qualified Type 1 Operations Section Chief and a long-serving member of California Interagency Incident Command Team 8. His expertise supports wildland preparedness throughout California and beyond.
Travont White
Battalion Chief, Emergency Medical Services
Chief White has more than 30 years of fire service experience, including 27 years with the Burbank Fire Department. He leads the Emergency Medical Services Division and the Wellness and Behavioral Health Program. Chief White holds a bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration from Columbia Southern University and is pursuing a master’s in Organizational Leadership. He received the Department’s Medal of Valor for his actions during the 2005 Officer Matthew Pavelka incident.
Eric Baumgardner
Emergency Management Administrator
Eric Baumgardner has over 25 years of experience in emergency management and public safety. He joined the Burbank Fire Department in 2013 after serving with the County of Los Angeles and City of Los Angeles. A graduate of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Emergency Management Advanced Academy, he has participated in numerous local, state, and federal disaster response operations. Administrator Baumgardner holds a certification as an Emergency Management Specialist from the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services.
Peter Garcia
Battalion Chief, Training & Safety
Chief Garcia has served with the Burbank Fire Department since 2001 and leads the Training & Safety Division. His previous roles include Fire Captain, Paramedic Shift Coordinator, and Fire Engineer. Chief Garcia earned a bachelor’s degree in Physiology and Neuroscience from University of California, San Diego and is a 2024 Leadership Burbank graduate. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Burbank.
