Burbank Councilmember Accepted to 2022 SCAG San Fernando Valley Housing Policy Leadership Academy

Burbank, CA (January 24, 2022) – The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) has accepted Burbank Councilmember Sharon Springer to the 2022 SCAG San Fernando Valley Housing Policy Leadership Academy.

The Housing Policy Leadership Academy (HPLA) provides emerging and established community leaders with a forum to understand how to advance policy solutions that increase the supply and availability of affordable housing in their communities. During the course of 10 online training sessions, participants from different backgrounds and disciplines examine issues and solutions from diverse perspectives and apply their learning to current housing policy challenges. Together, they explore the relationship between policy, planning, and housing development and discuss best practice policy solutions that address both the physical and social aspects of a healthy housing ecosystem for all.

“I am truly excited to have been admitted to the San Fernando Valley Housing Policy Leadership Academy,” said Councilmember Springer. “The HPLA will provide me with the tools needed to develop effective policies that will increase the supply and availability of affordable housing in Burbank. I look forward to participating in the academy with fellow Burbankers, like City of Burbank Housing Authority Manager Maribel Leyland and Burbank resident Alex Arciniega.”

The Southern California Association of Governments is a Joint Powers Authority under California state law, established as an association of local governments and agencies that voluntarily convene as a forum to address regional issues. SCAG is responsible for developing regional plans for transportation, growth management, hazardous waste management, and air quality.
