Today, The Honorable Catherine (Katie) Jereza, Assistant Secretary for the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Electricity, joined Burbank Water and Power (BWP) CEO/General Manager Mandip Samra, and California Energy Commission Supervisor Alex Kovalick, for a live grid modernization demonstration, showcasing how targeted federal investment is making American energy more reliable and affordable for communities across the nation, and laying the groundwork to power the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Due to excessive heat, Stough Canyon and Wildwood Canyon hiking trails are closed September 9, 2026.

As temperatures continue to rise this week, the City of Burbank encourages residents to take the following precautions during periods of high heat.

The Burbank Parks and Recreation Department, in collaboration with the Burbank Cultural Arts Commission, is pleased to announce a new funding cycle for the Community Arts Grant Program, designed to support local artists and non-profit arts organizations, while actively engaging Burbank residents with diverse and outstanding cultural arts projects.

Candidates are prohibited from placing election signage on private property without the permission of the owner, and are prohibited from placing signage on any public property, including the public right-of-way (see BMC 3-1-401, 5-3-402, 7-3-701.1).

The City of Burbank Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with the Burbank Cultural Arts Commission and the Valley Cultural Foundation, invites the community to celebrate Burbank's vibrant arts scene at the Autumn Arts Festival on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Johnny Carson Park. 

Construction on the Palm Paseo Beautification Project in Downtown Burbank is scheduled to begin Wednesday, September 9, 2026, bringing new amenities and enhancements designed to improve the pedestrian experience along the walkway and surrounding area.
