Burbank Fire Department Temporary Staffing Modifications

Beginning November 14, 2022, the City of Burbank Fire Department (BFD) will temporarily brown-out (not staff) a BFD Engine Company at Station 12 and redistribute the personnel to improve staffing resources across the department. This temporary modification will allow BFD to better serve the community by bringing respite to firefighters and their families, and it will routinely be evaluated to ensure BFD is providing the highest level of service to the community. In addition, all fire stations will remain open and staffed for response.

“Operationally this is not our optimum deployment, but this reprieve will contribute to the health and wellbeing of our firefighters and their families, which will enable us to continue to provide our community with the exceptional service that they are accustomed to,” said Fire Chief Eric Garcia.

Firefighter recruitment is currently underway with the 2023 academy scheduled to begin in February and conclude in May. For more information about the Burbank Fire Department, visit: burbankfire.us
