Burbank Launches Online Building Permits Begins with online permits for dishwashers and water heaters

Burbank, CA (December 28, 2021) – The City of Burbank’s Community Development Department (CDD) in conjunction with the Information Technology Department (IT) has released an online permitting feature for residents to utilize and obtain certain CDD Building & Safety Division Building Permits.

The Online Permit feature is the latest enhancement to the Citizen Access Portal and allows residents to obtain simple Building Permits online, saving them a visit to the City’s Community Services Building (CSB) or an email to Building & Safety’s Division’s general inbox. During the first phase, the portal will accept applications for dishwashers and water heaters. In the coming months, the portal will expand to accept applications for other permits such as roofing, windows, electrical outlets, HVAC equipment and more. Customers using the portal will receive a valid permit in approximately five minutes.

Users will need to create an account to submit permit applications. Once logged in, the Portal also allows residents to obtain Large Non-Commercial Vehicle (LNCV) permits, apply for a garage sale permit, schedule building inspections, and pay for Plan Check or Permit fees online with a Visa or MasterCard. In addition to the Citizens Access Portal, the City offers a Property Information Portal where anyone can check the status of a plan check application or permit.

The City of Burbank is committed to providing exceptional customer service, and the Citizen Access Portal will expedite the delivery of certain permits and services that normally require a visit to the Community Services Building or emailing a PDF application to the general inbox. For individuals who prefer to submit applications and requests in person, CSB is currently open by appointment only. Appointments may be made Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 11:30 am and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. To make an appointment, please email [email protected] or contact the office at (818) 238-5220.
