Burbank PD News Release - Burbank PD to Host Holiday Shopping Event

Burbank, CA (December 13, 2022) – On December 14, 2022, the Burbank Police Department will team up with Walmart and the Burbank Housing Corporation to help local youth in need purchase holiday gifts for their families.

This philanthropic holiday shopping event was first launched in December 1990. Since then, the Burbank Police Department has proudly participated each year as part of its commitment to the community and helping those who are less fortunate.  This year, the Burbank Police Department is excited to announce that 30 children have been selected by the Burbank Housing Corporation to take part in the event.  The children were selected based on their family’s financial income and needs.

Each child will be presented with a $100 gift card, sponsored by Walmart, the Burbank Police Officers’ Association (BPOA), the Burbank Police Foundation (BPF), and the Kiwanis Club of Burbank (Kiwanis).  The children will then be accompanied by police officers, cadets, and explorers as they shop for holiday gifts for themselves and their families. After the shopping event, children and their families will be presented with a gift certificate for two family holiday dinners at Tequilas Cantina & Grill, which was a collaborative effort by BPF, BPOA, Kiwanis, and Tequilas Cantina & Grill.

The goal of the event is to provide less fortunate children with a friendly holiday experience they won’t soon forget while building stronger community partnerships with law enforcement. Members of the media and community are invited to attend the event, which will begin at 5:00 P.M. on December 14 at Walmart in Burbank, located at 1301 N Victory Place.
