Important Message for Burbank Businesses

As many of you may know, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health announced on May 26, 2020, the reopening of some business sectors including all indoor and outdoor retail shopping centers at 50% capacity. If you are a business owner or employee, we want to provide you with the necessary information to reopen.

The most recent Order issued by the Los Angeles County Department of Health on May 26, can be found here.

When opening, each business sector must meet certain protocols. Please review the protocols before you open to ensure that you are meeting these requirements.  As a part of these protocols, you must place a sign reminding customers and employees to meet the social distancing guidelines, to not enter the building if they are sick, wear a face covering, and to wash and sanitize their hands.  The City has developed a downloadable poster or you may pick up a hard copy from our office.  Please call (818) 238-5180 and we will leave you one in our pick up box.

Lastly, the City will be offering Community Development Block Grant forgivable loans in the future.  If you are a small business owner impacted by COVID 19, you can apply for the Burbank Small Business Assistance Loan between $5,000 to $10,000, depending on your business type and the following criteria:**

• Your business has been impacted financially as a result of COVID 19, and

• Your business has expenses or rent that have been deferred, unpaid, or will be

  coming due, and

• Your business is located in the City of Burbank and has been between 2 – 20

employees where some were laid off, furloughed, or faced reduced work hours, or

• You are a contractor, gig worker, or entrepreneur who resides in Burbank, and

• You are low-income

**Any small businesses that has received assistance from the federal Small Business Administration (SBA), may still apply.  However, any SBA assistance will be taken into consideration in determining the loan amount that will be provided by the City of Burbank.

Please note, applications are not being accepted at this time for any of these programs, nor is the City keeping a waiting list.

Applications will be accepted at another date and we will provide information through e-notify, our website and on social media at least three days before the application period begins.  We urge you to sign up for the City of Burbank’s e-Notify alerts for program news and the opening of the application period.  To sign up, go to: https://www.burbankca.gov/what-s-new/enotify-me-sign-up.
