Intersection of Burbank Blvd. and Front Street to be Closed Starting Oct. 17

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) plans to close the intersection of Burbank Blvd. and Front Street in the city of Burbank on six consecutive nights starting Sunday night, Oct. 17, and continuing through Friday night, Oct. 22, for construction of the I-5 Burbank Blvd. Bridge and Interchange.

The intersection will close at 8 p.m. each night and will reopen by 4:30 a.m. the next morning, every day. The schedule is subject to change due to weather or operational reasons.

Additionally, all lanes on Southbound I-5 will be closed at Burbank Boulevard starting at 11:59pm each night, Sunday through Friday.  A detour is provided.  Lanes will reopen by 4:00 a.m. each morning.

During the closure each night, motorists may expect the following:

  • Access to Front Street and the Downtown Burbank Metrolink Station will be available from the south via Verdugo Avenue to Front Street.

  • Eastbound Burbank Blvd. will be closed from Victory Blvd./Victory Place to Front Street.

  • Front Street will be closed between Burbank Blvd. and the Magnolia Blvd. I-5 Bridge.

  • Access to I-5 will be available via a detour on Victory Blvd. to Alameda Avenue to I-5.

Dates, times and locations of closures may change. Updates will be posted on the project’s website My5LA.com and on Twitter at @My5LA.

Crews are constructing the I-5 Burbank Blvd. Bridge and Interchange, part of the I-5 HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle, or carpool lanes) project by Caltrans and Metro (Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority) in collaboration with the city of Burbank.
