Jonathan Jones Named Permanent Communications Manager

Jonathan Jones, the current Interim Communications Manager, has been selected by City Manager Justin Hess to become the permanent Communications Manager/Public Information Officer for the City of Burbank.

Mr. Jones was originally appointed as the Interim Communications Manager in July 2022. Within the past five months he has been responsible for providing proactive, transparent, and timely information to the Burbank community, businesses, and media outlets. He serves as the primary contact for all media inquiries, Citywide Press Releases, and manages the City of Burbank’s presence on social media platforms. Additionally, he oversees the City’s marketing content and video programming such as The Burbank Channel and live broadcasts of City Council meetings.

Mr. Jones began his career with the City of Burbank in April 2017 as an Administrative Analyst I in the Public Information Office and was promoted to Public Information Specialist in March 2018.  As the Public Information Specialist, Jones played an important role in managing the day-to-day operations of the Public Information Office, including maintaining relationships with the media, producing video programming like the Mayor’s Show and the State of the City, and other ongoing departmental duties.  Jones earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism from Arizona State University.

Mr. Jones will assume the role of Communications Manager effective immediately.
