Call Before You Come

If your car was impounded due to an arrest (not DUI):

  • Contact the detective handling your case.

  • Call 818-238-3333 with your case number to check if your vehicle is ready for release and to get the detective’s name if needed.

If your car was impounded for DUI, no license, expired license, expired registration, or other traffic violations:

  • Call the Traffic Bureau at 818-238-3100 to confirm your vehicle is ready for release.

Who Can Pick Up the Release

    • Include the vehicle’s make, model, and license plate number

  • The RO or their designee must show a valid California driver’s license. If they have only a temporary license, another valid photo ID is required.

  • Payment is by credit card or debit card only (no cash or checks).
