Burbank PD News Release: Burbank Police Participated in Statewide Organized Retail Theft Operation
As part of an ongoing commitment to community safety, the Burbank Police Department took part in a statewide organized retail theft operation that led to multiple arrests.
In collaboration with the Los Angeles Organized Retail Crime Association (LAORCA) and the California Highway Patrol Organized Retail Crime Task Force, the Burbank Police Department took part in a statewide operation known as “Blitz,” conducted from December 15 through December 21, 2025. The operation focused on disrupting organized retail theft activity and holding offenders accountable for crimes that impact local businesses and the community.
During the operation, Burbank Police partnered with loss prevention personnel from several Empire Center retailers, including Marshall’s, TJ Maxx, Walmart, Target, REI, Nordstrom Rack, Lowe’s, and ULTA. Working in both undercover and uniformed capacities, detectives and officers identified and investigated multiple theft-related criminal offenses.
As a result of the operation, the Burbank Police Department arrested sixteen (16) individuals for a range of felony and misdemeanor theft-related offenses.
This enforcement effort reinforces the Burbank Police Department’s continued commitment to combating organized retail theft and enhancing public safety. Coordinated operations such as this play a critical role in deterring repeat offenders and supporting the businesses that serve our community.
The Burbank Police Department extends its appreciation to the Los Angeles Organized Retail Crime Association, the California Highway Patrol Organized Retail Crime Task Force, participating retail partners, and all allied agencies for their collaboration and support.
