
A plan check is a review of building or remodeling plans to ensure they meet fire safety requirements before any work begins. This applies to both commercial and residential properties.
Plan checks are required for:
- Tenant improvements
- Automatic fire sprinkler systems
- Underground fire service lines and related components
- Fire alarm systems
- Special fire protection systems
Before Plan Check
A contractor based in Burbank who is submitting fire systems plans must have a current annual Business Tax.
A contractor not based in Burbank who is submitting fire systems plans must pay a Contractor's City Business Tax at the Building Division. A copy of the tax receipt to must be given to Burbank Fire for plan check.
Fees
Fees vary based on the project. Refer to the Citywide Fee Schedule, Article V - Public Safety, Section 8.
