The Cadet Program offers students a hands-on introduction to law enforcement. As a cadet, you’ll support the Burbank Police Department while gaining valuable experience that can prepare you for a future career in public safety.
What Cadets Do
- Assist with reports, investigations, and evidence handling
- Help with community tours and non-criminal transports
- Enter data, answer phones, and provide clerical support
- Safely operate City vehicles and handle equipment
- Interact with the public and other law enforcement agencies
- Attend classes and training sessions
- Uphold professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality at all times
Who Can Apply
- 18 years or older
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident (with citizenship in progress)
- High school graduate (or equivalent)
- Enrolled full-time at an accredited college, completing at least 24 units per year with a 2.5 GPA or higher
- Valid California Class “C” driver’s license
- Live within 45 miles of Burbank and able to report within one hour
Program Details
Cadet positions are limited to a maximum of three years. This is a paid, trainee-level role that builds skills, develops professionalism, and gives you real-world exposure to law enforcement careers.
