The Burbank Police Reserve Officer Program has proudly served the City of Burbank for decades, providing valuable support to the Police Department and the community.
Program Overview
Established in 1951, the program has grown from a small group of volunteers assisting during disasters into a fully trained and POST-certified reserve officer corps. Today, reserve officers work side-by-side with full-time officers, performing law enforcement duties in all divisions of the department.
Training & Standards
Reserve officers must complete the same Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) academy and field training requirements as regular officers. This ensures that reserves are fully prepared to carry out their responsibilities with professionalism and skill.
Selection Process
The hiring process for reserve officers mirrors that of full-time officers and includes:
- Written and oral exams
- Physical agility test
- Background investigation
- Medical and psychological evaluations
- Final interview with the Chief of Police
Serving as a Reserve Officer
The program is designed to be flexible and accessible for individuals with full-time careers who wish to serve their community in law enforcement.
