The Support Services Division consists of bureaus and units that provide logistical and personnel services and support for the other divisions of the Department.

The Records Bureau, Property and Evidence Section, Communications, and Jail support the law enforcement mission of the Department.
The Burbank Police Communications Center is the first point of contact in emergencies, handling thousands of 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls each month.

Staffed by trained operators, the Center provides critical support to the community and BPD officers, offering translation services, assistance for the hearing impaired, and expert handling of missing person cases. Their calm, compassionate response ensures help is delivered quickly and efficiently.

The Records Bureau plays a vital role in supporting the Burbank Police Department’s mission by managing, safeguarding, and providing access to essential law enforcement records. Operating seven days a week, the Bureau ensures the accurate, secure, and timely handling of information related to arrests, investigations, and prosecutions.

Responsibilities include maintaining criminal records, processing Department of Justice audits, and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws governing public records. The Bureau also provides direct customer service at the public counter, assists with detainee searches, and oversees data entry and documentation.

The Property and Evidence Section ensures the proper storage and disposal of all property in the Department’s custody in accordance with applicable laws and accurately documents the chain of custody for the court.

The Unit also continually monitors the building's security system and addresses all building maintenance issues.

The Jail’s primary mission is to fulfill its legal duties efficiently while ensuring all individuals are treated professionally and with dignity.

Certified as a Type I facility, the Burbank Jail typically houses arrestees for up to 96 hours (excluding weekends and holidays). Fully trained custody officers, who have attended a Correctional Training Academy, are responsible for the care and custody of all arrestees until their release, transfer, or court appearance.

Arrestees are allowed one visit prior to their arraignment, between 2:00 pm and 3:30 pm, for up to 15 minutes. All visitors, except minors, must provide government-issued photo identification, and visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
