The Fire & Life Safety Division helps keep Burbank safe from fires and environmental hazards. We prevent problems before they start, make sure buildings and activities meet safety rules in the California Fire Code and Burbank laws, and educate the community.
Functions
What we do:
- Review building plans to ensure fire and life-safety requirements are met
- Issue required fire permits
- Inspect buildings and events for fire, life-safety, and environmental compliance
- Oversee hazardous materials safety as part of LA County’s unified program
- Run the Fire Hazard Reduction (brush/vegetation management) program
- Investigate the cause and origin of fires
- Provide public safety education and outreach
- Manage film/TV production fire safety and permits
