I am honored to serve as the Fire Chief of the Burbank Fire Department (BFD) as we uphold our proud tradition of delivering high-quality and reliable service. Our dedicated team consists of 125 sworn personnel and 19 professional support staff members, all committed to making our city a safer place to live, work, and visit.
BFD is a career fire agency responsible for protecting 17.14 square miles. Burbank has a resident population of 104,000 and a workforce population of approximately 165,000.
We provide a variety of essential services to the community, including fire suppression, emergency medical services, fire prevention, hazardous materials response, emergency preparedness, and public education. BFD has earned a Class 1 Public Protection Classification rating from the Insurance Services Office, which indicates that we meet the industry's best practices in fire suppression and community risk reduction.
BFD has automatic aid and mutual aid agreements with all of our surrounding cities. Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena are the 3 founding cities of the Verdugo Fire Communications Center, which dispatches 11 other area fire agencies. The agreements and regional dispatch system provide seamless emergency response across jurisdictional boundaries.
