Library: Building Sustainability with LEED
This event is part of Burbank Reads 2021.
Panelists from the U.S. Green Building Council Los Angeles Chapter (USGBC-LA) and A SustainAble Production, LLC (ASAP) will discuss Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification and cover:
- why it's important to people and the environment
- implementation at home and work
- their own career journeys
- how to get started working in a green career
- and discuss one of Burbank current LEED building project, a multi-family housing project for 250+ families.
Jennifer Berthelot-Jelovic, founder and CEO of A SustainAble Production LLC (ASAP), was instrumental in securing the world's 1st LEED Platinum NC certification for an aviation facility, Hangar 25 in Burbank, CA. Hangar 25 was named "Greenest Aviation Facility In the World" and was Net Zero I Net Positive in 2008.
Robyn Eason is the City of West Hollywood Long Range Planning & Sustainability Manager. In April 2016, she joined the City as their first sustainability planner, managing a diverse set of citywide sustainability projects, including electrical vehicle charging readiness, clean energy initiatives, water efficiency and conservation, green government operations, and green building.
Burbank Reads is a program inspired by the idea that the shared act of reading can bring a community together. Everyone is encouraged to read the same book and participate in discussion and learning surrounding the subject of this year's focus - sustainabilty. The main title for 2021 is Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer. Find our Burbank Reads brochure here.
