The Department of Public Works includes multiple divisions responsible for the design, construction, renovation and operation of public projects and buildings; curbside collection and graffiti removal; and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, sewers, and traffic signals while protecting the environment and responding to the changing needs of the City.

Check out the City’s new Our Burbank 311 online portal or download from the App Store or Google Play to submit Public Works requests, including pothole, street and sidewalk repairs, bulky item pickup, and to report graffiti and homeless encampments.

Designs and constructs street improvements and concrete replacement projects. Issues multiple types of permits. 

Collects solid waste, green waste, recyclables, and bulky item and also provides temporary trash bin rentals. 

Performs maintenance, repair, and improvements on City-owned (non BWP) buildings, equipment, vehicles, and fueling systems. 

Oversees the monitoring, operation, and timing of the City's signalized intersections and maintains all traffic signals, signs, and markings.

Manages concrete and asphalt improvements, street sweeping, graffiti removal, weed abatement, and flood control (sandbags), as well as disaster preparedness related to street maintenance.  

Owns and operates the City's sanitary sewer system and the Burbank Water Reclamation Plant. Offers the Sewer Lateral User Rebate Program (SLURP).
