Join us for a special evening of poetry and prose with Woodbury University students.

A New York Times bestseller and enduring classic, All About Love is the acclaimed first volume in feminist icon bell hooks' "Love Song to the Nation" trilogy. In its thirteen chapters, bell hooks explains how our everyday notions of giving and receiving love often fail us. She advocates, instead, for a radical love that's rooted in respect, recognition, commitment, trust, and care—a love that firmly rejects domination, control, and narcissism. According to hooks, this is the love we need if there's any hope of ending struggles between individuals, within communities, and among societies.

Burbank Public Library is proud to present twelve Woodbury University student writers, each sharing original work inspired by All About Love and engaging broader themes of social justice. Hosted by scholar, performer, and poet, Mike Sonksen.

Teens and adults are invited to attend this program, which will take place in the Storytime Room at Buena Vista Branch Library.
