Burbank PD Community Bulletin: Kick Off Super Bowl LVIII With a Go Safely Game Plan

Burbank, CA (February 9, 2024) - As the excitement builds for Super Bowl LVIII, the Burbank Police Department reminds football fans to intercept impaired driving if they’re heading out to a Super Bowl party and plan on drinking alcohol. Make sure you stick to the “Go Safely” game plan and choose a sober way to go.

Remember that alcohol is not the only substance that impairs driving. Marijuana, prescription medications, and over-the-counter drugs may also impair your ability to drive safely. Do your research and understand how certain drugs may affect you.

On Super Bowl Sunday (February 11), additional Burbank Police officers will be on patrol looking for drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

There are many options available to get you home safely so there is no excuse for getting behind the wheel when you are impaired. To avoid a DUI and putting yourself and others at risk, the Burbank Police Department offers the following reminders:

  • Plan Ahead – Before you grab the drink, make sure you grab the designated sober driver.
  • Share a Ride – Been drinking and don’t have a ride home? Yes you do! Take the train, the bus, or snag a safe trip home from a ride-hailing service.
  • Keep Your Friends Safe – Stick to the “Go Safely” game plan. Don’t let your friends drive impaired.

Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
