Burbank PD News Release - Hit & Run Suspect Arrested

Burbank, CA (January 25, 2024) – A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a hit and run of a bicyclist that occurred on January 16, 2024.

On January 16, 2024, at about 7:20 a.m., the Burbank Police Department received several calls regarding a traffic collision involving a bicyclist on Clybourn Avenue, near Oxnard Street.  The bicyclist sustained major injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries where he remains in critical condition. 

Burbank Police Traffic Investigators and Detectives responded to the scene and continued with an extensive investigation. Investigators reviewed hours of surveillance video and identified the vehicle involved in the collision.  

Today, at 10:15 a.m., investigators contacted the suspect at his vehicle in the100 block of South First Street in Burbank.  Investigators interviewed him and he admitted to being the driver at the collision.  The vehicle had damage consistent with the collision.   

The suspect has been identified as 23-year-old Alexander Saenz, a resident of Sherman Oaks. Mr. Saenz was arrested and booked for 20001(b)(1) CVC – Hit and Run resulting in serious injury, a felony. Mr. Saenz is being held without bail and is due to appear in court on Monday morning.  Formal charges are pending review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
