City of Burbank Announces New Three-Part Media Industry Expo Series
Burbank, CA (August 10, 2026) - Building on the success of the 2024 & 2025 Media Industry Expo & Job Fair, the City of Burbank is excited to announce a new chapter for the program with the launch of a three-part Media Industry Expo Series beginning in Fall 2026.
Developed in response to feedback from attendees, exhibitors, and industry partners, the new format replaces the previous large-scale annual event with three smaller, specialized Expos held throughout the year. Each Expo will focus on a different area of the media and entertainment industry, allowing for more personalized networking, in-depth discussions, and targeted career development programming.
The first event, the Career Transitions Expo, will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the University of Redlands Los Angeles in Burbank (formerly Woodbury University). Registration opens Monday, August 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. To register or view participating employers, panelists, and workshop instructors, visit www.BurbankMediaExpo.org.
As the media industry continues to evolve, many professionals are exploring new career paths both within and beyond traditional entertainment roles. The Career Transitions Expo is designed to help attendees navigate that transition by providing practical guidance, valuable insights from those who have done a career pivot in their past, and opportunities to build new professional connections.
Unlike previous years, attendance will be limited to approximately 225 attendees, creating a more intimate environment that encourages meaningful conversations and stronger professional relationships. Participation is free, but advance reservations are required. Registration opens Monday, August 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Attendees must be 18+ or older to participate.
Attendees can look forward to:
- Curated Networking Reception featuring industry professionals, employers, and peers in a relaxed setting with light refreshments.
- Panel Discussion with professionals who have successfully navigated major career transitions and will share practical advice for launching a new career path.
- Interactive Workshops focused on resume development, interviewing strategies, and translating entertainment industry experience into new career opportunities.
Mayor Takahashi welcomed the evolution of the program, saying: "Burbank has always been a city that supports creativity, innovation, and opportunity. As the media industry continues to change, it's important that we continue evolving alongside it. This new Expo Series creates more meaningful opportunities for professionals to build connections, develop new skills, and prepare for what's next while reinforcing Burbank's role as the Media Capital of the World."
The Career Transitions Expo is the first event in the new three-part series. Additional Expos include:
- Writers Expo — January 8, 2027
Designed for aspiring and professional writers, the Writers Expo will help attendees strengthen their job search strategies, explore emerging opportunities in traditional media and related industries, and build valuable connections with fellow writers and industry professionals. Registration opens November 30, 2026
- Production & Design Expo — May 14, 2027
Created for professionals working in production, art, design, and technical roles, this Expo will explore how emerging technologies are reshaping the entertainment industry. Through expert-led discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities, attendees will gain practical tools and strategies to adapt to the evolving job market and position themselves for future career success. Registration opens April 5, 2027
Each Expo will feature customized programming, expert speakers, and networking opportunities designed specifically for that sector of industry.
