City of Burbank Approves Testing Policy for City Employees

BURBANK, CA (September 23, 2021) – During the September 14, 2021, City Council meeting, Council approved the COVID-19 Employee Testing Policy, requiring weekly testing for unvaccinated City employees and that all new hires in the City be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment unless they have received an approved medical or religious exemption from the City. This policy strives to limit employees’ exposure to COVID-19 from other employees while continuing to provide excellent service to the public.

Additionally, a new agenda item was requested for the October 12, 2021, meeting to consider expanding the current COVID-19 Employee Testing Policy to include mandating COVID-19 vaccines for City employees and contractors. The policy is still being developed by the City and will be presented to the Council for discussion during the October 12, 2021, City Council Meeting.
