The event marks the culmination of the 2022 Youth Hap Minor Baseball and Ponytail Softball season and celebrates the contributions of the 62 teams and over 750 players, families, and friends. The celebration includes a walking parade, award presentation with dignitaries, and skills challenge for players including running the bases and throwing for accuracy.

A walking parade will start at John Burroughs High School located at 1920 West Clark Avenue, Burbank, CA 91506, and teams will walk down Clark Avenue to George Izay Park located at 1111 West Olive Avenue, Burbank, CA 91506.

This event will highlight the 50-year anniversary of Title IX. Title IX of the Civil Rights Act was signed into law on June 23, 1972. Title IX has had a significant impact, specifically by opening doors and removing barriers for girls and women in sports. Since Title IX’s passage, female participation at the high school level has grown by 1,057 percent and by 614 percent at the college level. To celebrate the 50-year anniversary of Title IX, the Parks and Recreation Department will introduce the Linda Murphy Pioneer Perpetual Award that will be given to a player in the Ponytail Softball league. Linda Murphy advocated for un-biased playing rules, uniforms, equal gym time, and competitive play for girls and women in Burbank and abroad.
