Citywide Annual Local and Residential Street Rehabilitation Program Update
Project Update (January 2026):
New asphalt paving operations are tentatively scheduled to start on January 5, 2026, barring any unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions.
With over 100 City blocks scheduled for this street paving project, the street segments will be paved in multiple phases to minimize impact to residents, businesses and schools. The impacted streets will receive ‘Notice of Street Paving’ door hanger notifications a week prior to the start of scheduled repaving operations, and ‘No Parking’ signs will be posted for the full length of the scheduled street segments (with duration of 3 – 5 days to allow for completing the required asphalt repaving work)
What to expect on asphalt repaving days:
-
1st day of operations will be grinding (removing) of the top layer of the existing asphalt pavement, which is relatively a fast moving operation (no hot asphalt)
-
2nd day of operations will be crack-filling the existing underlying cracks and base repairs if any (no hot asphalt)
-
Last day of operations will be hot asphalt installation and paving, the areas being paved cannot be driven or walked on and will be closed to traffic to allow for cure time. Refrain from using irrigation, sprinklers or watering on the day of asphalt paving (the roadways will be opened once asphalt has cooled down, which is usually by end of the day by around 5 pm)
Trash Collection: -
Trash collection days will remain the same. Residents can place the bins on the street pavement as normally done for the trash to be collected early in the morning
Starting October 2025, the City of Burbank’s Public Works Department will launch the third phase of the Citywide Annual Local/Residential Street Rehabilitation Program. This initiative focuses on enhancing roads throughout the community, specifically those rated as 'poor' or 'very poor' (Pavement Condition Indexes of 55 or lower).
