DISPATCH COMMUNICATIONS BROADCAST FEED

Burbank, California – In July of 2023, the Burbank Police Department converted all radio communications to an encrypted platform. The radio encryption was in part a result of a directive from the California Department of Justice for police departments to take proactive measures in protecting the transmission of sensitive, personally identifiable information (PII). Furthermore, radio encryption can help protect the safety of law enforcement personnel and the transmission of sensitive information that may jeopardize the integrity of police operations.

The Burbank Police Department understands that radio encryption can lead to concerns regarding a perceived lack of transparency. The Department also recognizes that members of the media and the public depend on public safety radio transmissions for information about current events and critical incidents occurring in the community.

To provide continued access to primary dispatch communications while balancing efforts to protect the safety of law enforcement personnel, the Burbank Police Department has partnered with Broadcastify, an online source for public radio communication feeds. The Burbank Police Department has been designated as an official feed, which can be accessed here. The Burbank Police Department audio feed has a delay of 15 minutes.

The audio feed of Burbank Police primary dispatch is available 24 hours per day and is accessible using a variety of devices, such as a computer, cell phone, or any device capable of streaming audio through a Wi-Fi or data connection.
