I-5 Ramp Closure and Street Closures in Burbank

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces the following scheduled closures in Burbank for construction of the I-5 Burbank Boulevard Bridge and Interchange:

  • The Southbound I-5 Burbank Boulevard exit will be closed from Monday (Nov. 1) at 12:01 a.m. until Nov. 16 at 5 a.m. for off-ramp construction. A detour will be provided.

  • The intersection of Burbank Boulevard and Front Street will be closed on the weekend of Nov. 5-8 and the weekend of Nov. 12-15 for pavement construction. Both closures are scheduled from 9:30 p.m. Friday through 4:30 a.m. Monday. Detours will be provided.

The schedules are weather-permitting and subject to change. During both weekend closures of Burbank Boulevard and Front Street, motorists may expect the following:

  • The Downtown Burbank Metrolink Station on Front Street will be accessible from the south via Verdugo Avenue; also via the Southbound I-5 Verdugo Avenue exit.

  • Burbank Boulevard will be closed between Victory Boulevard and Front Street.

  • Front Street will be closed between Burbank Boulevard and the Magnolia Boulevard I-5 Bridge.

  • From Burbank Boulevard, motorists will have access to I-5 via a detour south on Victory Boulevard to Alameda Avenue to I-5; also via a detour north on Victory Place to Empire Avenue to I-5.

  • The Southbound I-5 Verdugo Avenue off-ramp and on-ramp will stay open.

Closure locations and times are subject to change due to weather or other reasons. Updates will be posted on the project’s website My5LA.com and on Twitter at @My5LA.

The new I-5 Burbank Blvd. Bridge and Interchange is part of the I-5 HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle, or carpool lanes) project by Caltrans and Metro (Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority) in collaboration with the city of Burbank.
