Los Angeles County Revokes Tin Horn Flats' Health Permit

BURBANK, CA (January 29, 2021) – On January 20, 2021, Los Angeles County Public Health held a revocation hearing regarding Tin Horn Flats’ health permit. On January 25, 2021, the County issued their decision in a letter to Barfly Inc., Tin Horn Flats’ parent company.

The hearing discussed 37 separate inspections and violations between December 7, 2020, and January 25, 2021, including the fact that on December 12, 2020, the County suspended Tin Horn Flats’ Public Health Permit and on January 12, 2021, County Counsel issued Cease and Desist Order.

The revocation prohibits Tin Horn Flats’ from conducting any form of retail food sales, including but not limited to, food storage and/or food preparation.  The business may be issued a new permit if they meet requirements listed within the letter. Failure to comply with the notice will result in further legal action.

Additionally, on January 27, 2021, the County of Los Angeles filed a lawsuit for:

  • Violation of Emergency Health Orders
  • Violation of Los Angeles County Codes
  • Abatement of Public Nuisance

The complaint asks for an injunction prohibiting Tin Horn Flats from operating as well as taking measures to come into compliance with the County Health Order, an injunction allowing the County Health Officer to enter the subject property, asking that the defendants be ordered to pay civil penalties, and that the defendants to cover all cost of the lawsuit.

On February 22, the Burbank City Council has scheduled a public hearing to consider modification, suspension or revocation of Tin Horn Flats’ conditional use permit to operate in the City.
