Now Accepting Nominations for the 2026 Peter McGrath Older Americans Volunteer Service Award

During the month of May, the City of Burbank Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate Older Americans Month. A major focus is to honor a maximum of three (3) outstanding volunteers for the Peter McGrath Older Americans Volunteer Service Award. One will move on to represent Burbank at the Annual Older Americans Recognition Day in Los Angeles on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

When you submit nomination forms for any outstanding volunteers, please take into consideration the following:

  • Each nominee must be 60 years of age or older, a Burbank resident, and have volunteered a significant amount of service. Consider volunteering leadership in community projects, volunteer civic involvement, those who go above and beyond to make our community a better place.
  • Demonstrated outstanding contributions to community service aligning with this year’s theme “The Power of Belonging”
  • The nominee does not have to be registered as a B.V.P. Volunteer.
  • This is a once in a lifetime award. Your submission will be checked to insure they are eligible and have not won this honor in the past.
  • The deadline to submit the included nomination form is Monday, January 26, 2026. Download the nomination form here.

Nomination forms may be submitted three ways:

  • Drop-off at the Joslyn Adult Center located at 1301 W Olive Ave Burbank, CA 91506

The Los Angeles County Commission for Older Adults requirements for 2026:

  • Please describe your nominee in 100 words or less describing the nominee’s contributions, including specific examples of their impact on the community.
  • Include a high resolution picture of nominee
    *If selected for the County award additional information or submission may be required.

Please note: In order for us to select the best nominees, it is important that you include detailed service information and reasons why you believe your nominee should receive this award. If self-nominating, please list the name and phone number of a reference for verification of information.
