SuperCinema Launches as a New Independent Film Studio Built for Today’s Generation of Cinephiles
The studio will produce, market and distribute bold, filmmaker-driven films directly to audiences and will be anchored by a new campus in Burbank’s Media District
Burbank, CA (September 18, 2026) – SuperCinema, a new independent film studio focused on bold, fresh, auteur-driven films for the next generation of cinephiles was unveiled today. The studio was launched by the team behind CONCRETE, a leading cinematic content studio whose clients include Netflix, Disney, Paramount, and NBCUniversal. SuperCinema will produce, market and theatrically distribute its films directly to audiences, maintaining control of each project from development through release.
Anchoring the company is a new studio campus in the heart of Burbank's Media District, minutes from Disney Studios and Warner Bros. The campus — designed by NG+P Architects — will feature three stages, an LED volume stage, post-production facilities and collaborative workspaces, with the first phase of construction slated for completion in early 2027.
“Burbank has long been a place where creativity, innovation, and the entertainment industry come together, and we’re excited to welcome SuperCinema to our City,” said Mayor Tamala Takahashi. “Their investment in a new studio campus brings new energy and opportunity to our community while reinforcing Burbank’s continued role as a place where filmmakers and entertainment companies can grow.”
SuperCinema arrives at a moment of renewed energy for theatrical moviegoing, driven by film lovers who have made cinema culture their own — turning out for event screenings, collecting physical media and building communities around the movies they’re excited by. SuperCinema is built for these movie-goers: films with strong, singular visions from distinctive creators with fresh voices, released with the creativity, speed and direct audience relationships which the founders have spent more than 15 years building at CONCRETE.
SuperCinema is built in the service of filmmakers. Led by a creative team rather than a corporate one, the studio is structured so that creative control stays where it belongs — with the filmmakers themselves. SuperCinema’s first release, Loose Ends, is currently in post-production and will be released in 2027. The film is from producers LB Entertainment/Lee Broda and Zero Gravity Management and stars Vishka Asayesh, Mike O Hearn, DJ Quik, Suga Free, and Llanteros503. Also currently in development is the action-adventure film THE BACKLOT from producers Range Media Partners and Artists for Artists.
Growth will be deliberate, with SuperCinema releasing a select number of films each year, each one hands-on, creatively led and made to earn a devoted audience. It is an extension of the "fans first" philosophy the team has practiced for CONCRETE's client base since 2010.
"At CONCRETE, we have taken our love of storytelling and worked with some of the biggest studios and brands in the world to build stories and fandoms," the company said. “SuperCinema allows us to bring that passion and expertise to the thing we love most: film. We are building a home for daring, filmmaker-driven movies and a generation of cinephiles that have fallen back in love with cinema.”
SuperCinema is led by Michael Burke, Rachel Williams, Justin Younesi, and Michael Younesi; the team that built CONCRETE into a go-to content studio for the industry's biggest entertainment companies and brands. Since inception, CONCRETE pioneered a director-led approach to branded and digital content, bridging broadcast-level craft with the speed and audience fluency of the social era. CONCRETE will continue to operate and serve its clients alongside SuperCinema.
The studio has multiple projects in various stages of production with title specific announcements coming soon.
