This July, Celebrate ‘Where You Belong’ with Burbank Parks and Recreation

Burbank, CA (July 1, 2024) – This July, join the City of Burbank for Parks and Recreation Month to celebrate how Burbank is stronger, more vibrant, and more resilient because of parks and recreation. As part of the National Recreation and Park Association’s (NRPA) initiative and 2024 theme of “Where you Belong,” the community is invited to share their experiences, memories, and stories about what parks and recreation means to them. From attending park events, participating in drop-in sports, volunteering at community events, or simply visiting a park or recreation facility, there are plenty of ways that you can celebrate!

“By celebrating Parks and Recreation Month, we acknowledge the significant impact our parks and recreational facilities have on the well-being of our community,” said Marisa Garcia, Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Director. “Our parks are not only places for leisure and recreation but also essential spaces for building community spirit, enhancing health and wellness, and preserving our city's natural beauty. I encourage everyone to explore the variety of programs and activities we offer in Burbank and to join me in recognizing the hard work of our dedicated staff and volunteers, who ensure our parks are welcoming and accessible for all."

NRPA and the City of Burbank encourage everyone who supports parks and recreation to share how it has fostered belonging, as well as why their local park and recreation professionals are important to them, on social media with #WhereYouBelong.
