West Nile Virus Positive Mosquito Sample Found in Burbank

The Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District (GLACVCD) has confirmed the first mosquito sample in Burbank this year that tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV).

What does that mean? It simply means that mosquitoes carrying the virus have been identified in the area, and it’s a good reminder to take simple steps that help reduce mosquito bites and keep our neighborhoods safe:

  • Eliminate standing water around your home.
  • Maintain pools, spas, and ponds.
  • Change water in pet dishes and birdbaths weekly.
  • Use insect repellent when outdoors.
  • Report neglected swimming pools to GLACVCD.
