Club de Futbol Monterrey to Host Adaptive Sports Community Event at McCambridge Park

Burbank, CA (May 28, 2025) — One of the most storied soccer clubs in Mexico and a global icon in the world of football, Club de Futbol Monterrey (Rayados), is set to make its mark in Southern California this June as part of the FIFA Club World Cup USA 2025. In addition to competing in three group stage matches at the Rose Bowl Stadium against Inter Milan (Italy), River Plate (Argentina), and Urawa Red Diamonds (Japan), Rayados will host a community event putting on a day of adaptive sports in partnership with Angel City Sports on Sunday, June 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at McCambridge Park, located at 1515 N. Glenoaks Blvd in Burbank, CA. Angel City Sports is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit that provides free year-round adaptive sports opportunities for youth, adults, and veterans with physical disabilities or visual impairments.

The City of Burbank Parks and Recreation Department has been selected as the host site for this special event due to its outstanding impact in the field of Adaptive Sports programming. The department has earned national attention for its inclusive recreational initiatives, most notably the Burbank Adaptive Sports Expo, which drew more than 3,000 visitors in its most recent edition, underscoring the city’s commitment to accessibility and community empowerment through sport.

As part of its deep-rooted dedication to community impact, Club de Futbol Monterrey is proud to support these efforts and help grow the game of soccer within the disabled community. The June 15 event will provide an inclusive and inspiring soccer experience for individuals of all abilities.

Event highlights will include:
• A meet-and-greet with club legend Jesús Zavala
• Fun and interactive moments with mascot Monty
• Official Rayados merchandise giveaways for all participants
• Adaptive sports opportunities in amputee soccer, powerchair soccer, and wheelchair football, led by Angel City Sports, with wheelchair football powered by the Angel City Sports LA Rams Wheelchair Football Team

“We are grateful to Club de Futbol Monterrey and Angel City Sports for their generous support and commitment to inclusion through sport. It’s an honor for our community to welcome them to Burbank for this special event,” said Mayor of Burbank Nikki Perez. “Their partnership has helped us take a meaningful step forward in expanding our Adaptive Sports programming, creating opportunities for athletes of all abilities. Together, we’re showing what’s possible when sport is truly accessible to everyone.”

“We’re thrilled not only to represent Monterrey and Mexico on the world stage, but to use this platform to create real and lasting impact in every city we visit,” said Everardo Valdez, Club de Futbol Monterrey Institutional Relations Director. “The City of Burbank has demonstrated an incredible commitment to inclusivity, and we’re honored to be working alongside them to bring this vision to life.”

Rayados’ presence in Los Angeles is expected to draw thousands of fans and shine a spotlight on passion, inclusivity, and the club’s mission to build community through sport.
