Last updated 10:30AM 12/31/25

Heads up, Burbank! Rain is on the way.

Rain and wind are in the forecast for Burbank and may result in hazardous driving and street conditions. The information below outlines safety tips and resources to help residents stay prepared.

Ready Burbank

Stay informed and be prepared with information about heavy rainstorms, be prepared with readyburbank.org, and sign up for Alert Burbank.

Tips for Driving Safely in the Rain:

  • Slow down and maintain control

  • Leave space between vehicles

  • Use defrosters to keep windows clear

  • Pull over if needed. If conditions become too hazardous, find a safe place to stop.

Stay alert and drive smart!

Runaway Carts & Storm Drain Safety

Heavy rain increases water flow along streets and gutters.

To help ensure proper drainage and prevent carts from blocking storm drains:

  • Place collection carts 18–24 inches away from curbs and gutters

  • Make sure cart lids are securely closed

  • Bring carts in as soon as possible after collection

Downed Power Lines

If you spot a downed power line:

  • Keep your distance

  • Call 911 immediately
