HIGH WINDS AND RED FLAG UPDATES

The City of Burbank is encouraging residents to prepare for elevated winds and dry air in the area.

The National Weather Service of Los Angeles has announced that the #SantaAnaWind combined with dry air and very dry vegetation will maintain high WILDFIRE RISK through Wednesday. Continue to practice fire safety by avoiding work that creates sparks, report any smoke, and stay informed. Gather items you will need, should you be evacuated. [Update 5:20 PM on 1/13/25]: The City of Burbank is closely monitoring current incidents and weather conditions. There are NO evacuation orders or warnings in Burbank at this time.

The Red Flag Warning is effective through Wednesday (1/15), so please take all necessary safety precautions and call 9-1-1 if you see anything.

[Update 9:15AM on 1/10/25]: A Local Health Emergency has been declared in LA County. A new Health Officer Order prohibits the use of power air blowers, including leaf blowers, as these devices stir up ash and harmful particles, worsening air quality and increasing health risks.

Track Power Outages
Check on power outages by visiting the Burbank Water and Power website.
Burbank water is safe to drink and use without boiling. The Burbank water system is independent and is not experiencing the quality issues that other systems are experiencing. It is not impacted by the fires in the other areas of LA county. Fallen/Broken Trees on Private Property
Residents and property owners dealing with tree-related issues on private property are advised to hire a private tree-trimming company. For any damages, the City recommends contacting your insurance provider for guidance and support.

Donations of non-perishable goods and toiletry items are accepted at any Burbank Fire Station to be donated to firefighters and victims of the wildfires in need. (Examples: granola bars, water bottles, sports drinks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, deodorant, etc.)

Burbank Chamber of Commerce: The Burbank Chamber of Commerce has created an emergency resource list with information regarding shelters, animal boarding, volunteer opportunities and more. 

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA): Financial assistance is available for individuals in Los Angeles County who have disaster-related needs due to the ongoing fires.
