  • On July 3, 2023, the City of Burbank received a formal SB 35 application submittal for a Streamlined Ministerial Design Review, pursuant to Government Code Section 65913.4, that proposes a new four-story mixed-use development with 117 rental units, 1,058 square feet of ground-floor retail space, 181 subterranean-level vehicle parking spaces and 37 bicycle parking spaces. There would also be a proposed publicly accessible open space area (Bob Hope Park). The project applicant proposes to apply the State's Density Bonus Law that allows for increased residential density, incentives, waivers and parking standards. The affordable housing project proposed to provide deed-restricted, 12 very low-income units for a minimum 55 years. 
  • The SB NOI application is scheduled for the August 23, 2022 City Council meeting for City Council consideration of site eligibility requirements as noted in Government Code Section 65913.4, subsections (a)(2)(A-C) in accordance with Burbank Municipal Code Section 10-1-19302(A)(3).
  • As of June 24, 2022, the SB 35 NOI application has been routed to other City Departments for review. Staff is also currently undertaking the tribal consultation process as outlined in Government Code Section 65913.4(b).
  • An NOI Completeness Letter was issued by the City on April 20, 2023.
  • On July 3, 2023, the City received a formal SB 35 application submittal for a Streamlined Ministerial Design Review, pursuant to Government Code Section 65913.4. City Staff is currently in the process of reviewing the application submittal.
