When an evacuation warning (voluntary evacuation) is issued, don’t wait. Treat it seriously and leave as soon as possible. In many cases, warnings quickly turn into mandatory evacuation orders.
If you choose to remain until an official order is given, use that time to get fully prepared so you can leave at a moment’s notice:

                  - Get your car ready: Park it facing the street, roll up the windows, and leave the doors unlocked.
- Alert your family: Make sure everyone knows you may need to evacuate.
- Prepare your pets: Place them in carriers or on leashes near the door. Don’t wait– frightened animals can be hard to catch in an emergency.
- Secure your home: Close all windows.
- Gather essentials: Stage important documents (IDs, insurance, certificates) and valuables (photos, keepsakes) by the door for quick grab-and-go.
When an evacuation order is issued, leave immediately. Staying behind puts your life at risk and endangers first responders, who may not be able to return to help if conditions worsen.
