Burbank offers sports year-round for both adults and youth, and all programs need officials.

For adults, we offer Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Coed Softball, Men’s Slow Pitch, Men’s and Women’s Fast Pitch, Soccer, and Volleyball.

Youth sports are offered seasonally: during winter we offer competitive Baseball and Basketball; in spring, recreational Baseball and Softball; and in fall, competitive Softball and Coed Volleyball.

Experience is not required to officiate, but it is recommended. All Burbank officials must complete a Live Scan background check before being assigned to any games.

Youth Opportunites

Burbank offers great opportunities for youth in our sports programs to gain work experience and earn money!

UMPIRE CLASSES
For T-Ball and Coach Pitch umpiring, applicants must be between 15 and 17 years old. Training includes one classroom session covering rules and fundamentals, and one on-field session simulating game situations. Umpires are required to provide their uniform which consists of a powder-blue polo, dark blue shorts, and tennis shoes or cleats. These games are played on Saturdays.

SCOREKEEPING CLASSES
Scorekeeping classes are offered for Burbank youth in grades 6-12 for the Youth Basketball League and Youth Baseball and Softball Leagues.  Selected students will keep score during youth games. No experience or game knowledge is required. Participants attend four in-person classes that teach everything needed to be a scorekeeper.  Scorekeepers are paid minimum wage per game.

Basketball scorekeeping classes are offered in October/November.  The basketball season runs from December through March, with games played on Friday evenings and Saturdays.
Youth Baseball and Softball scorekeeping classes are offered in February/March.  The seasons run from late March through June.
