George Izay Park Irrigation Replacement and Modernization Project
What to Expect:
As part of the George Izay Park Irrigation Replacement and Modernization Project, work will be completed in the coming weeks to upgrade the park’s irrigation system. Some areas in the park will be temporarily inaccessible during construction, but walkways and court access will remain available wherever possible. We appreciate your patience as this essential work is completed.
Grass Area Near the F-104 Jet
Work is tentatively scheduled to begin February 23, 2026, near the grass area by the F-104 Jet. During this time, the grass area will be temporarily closed, but all walkways will remain open.
Walkway Between the Building and Courts
Starting tentatively March 9, 2026 (weather permitting), trenching will occur along the walkway between the building and the courts to replace irrigation infrastructure. Temporary fencing will be installed to block access to the walkway, and the concrete pads near the courts will be temporarily unavailable. Entrances closer to Olive Avenue will remain open, and the courts will remain available for use.
Backside Grass Area Near Courts & BLCAC
Work is tentatively scheduled to begin March 23, 2026, in the grass area behind the courts and the Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center. This area will be temporarily closed, and during transitions, there may be brief periods when both the walkway and the grass area are inaccessible for inspections and testing.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we complete this important work to modernize the park’s irrigation system.
